Vyn (she/her) Head/Writing Mod

Hi there! My name is Vyn and I'll be the head mod as well as the writing mod for this project. I'm relatively new to the Dungeon Meshi zine space, but I've been participating in other zines since 2019! I've now been a part of ten different zines as a contributor, and two as a moderator. Most recently, I served as head mod for Lawfully Wedded: An Ace Attorney Wedding Zine, which raised over $4,000 for Marriage for All Japan!I'm so excited to bring this zine to life. Farcille have meant so much to me ever since I got into Dungeon Meshi, especially all of the fanart and fanfiction that people have created of them. Being able to help collect all of these wonderful, passionate people together for a good cause sounds like a dream come true--or maybe magic...

Yessie (she/they) Discord/Social Media Mod

Hello, my name is Yester Darling, but everyone calls me Yessie. I'll be serving as your social media mod and Discord Master (hehe) for this project. I'm newer to the zine game (you can find my work in the Mea Culpa Ace Attorney fanzine and the Lavender Blue Franmaya zine), but have served as a zine mod for some smaller projects and a couple of Big Bangs for the Raven Cycle fandom. I have lots of experience running social media for various projects, as well as moderating Discord servers. I'm excited to work my magic on both to transform our social media from a bare dungeon to a whole ecosystem for you.As a sapphic, manga reader, and D&D fan, Farcille brings me so much joy. Character studies are my true passion, and I've loved seeing everyone's interpretations of both Marcille and Falin through their fan works. They compliment each other so beautifully, both in their strengths and flaws. The dungeon brings out the true nature of everyone. I can't wait to see what it brings out of your contributions.

Mel (he/she) Art Mod

hi! i’m mel and i love yuri… i’ve contributed in around 15 zines and this will be my first time being an art moderator! i’m very familiar with the process of fanzines and i’m ready to go all out for this wonderful project! ><

Tea (they/them) Graphics/Design Mod

Hello hello! I'm Tea~ I'm so excited to be a part of this project as graphics/formatting mod! I have been / currently am a mod for ten zines, mostly doing formatting & layout. It's one of my favorite things in the world to help put together collaborative projects. My pride and joy was Radiance: A MXTX Anthology. I was head, co-writing, formatting, finance/production, and shipping mod for that project and we ended up with almost 500 orders!Graphic design (especially editorial design) is my passion, and I'm delighted to use it for these sapphic queens. Falin and Marcille are both such wonderful, complex characters. I can't get over their bond. I'm over the moon about this project and hope that everyone has fun celebrating Farcille!

Drea (she/her) Finance Mod

Hi, I'm Drea and I adore Dungeon Meshi and Farcille with all my heart. I have 3 years of finance mod experience for projects such as Save the Date: A Sulemio Art Book, Drawing Fate: A Witch Hat Atelier Tarot Project, and Boyhood: A Touya Todoroki Zine. I'm so excited to help bring this zine to life and look forward to working with everyone!

Noirfos (any) Shipping Mod

Hello, I'm Noir and I'll be handling the shipping! I've been a mod for over 30 zines since 2022, including shipping for Quintessence: Genshin Impact archons zine, Guiding Stars: Fire Emblem Three Houses Blue Lions zine, GOTHAM - The Centennial Issue: DC Gotham fashion zine, and more. I'm excited to be part of this zine!

Contributor Guidelines

Original Work Requirement
Works submitted to the zine must be original and created for this purpose alone. Works that have been previously created and published for any other reason will not be accepted. Generative AI will not be permitted.
Zine Content is Confidential
Do not share works in progress, illustrations, or writing publicly while the fanzine is still in progress. Once the zine is completed, you may post or monetize your work. Please refrain from posting or spoiling anything from the zine itself.
Main Theme Focus
Your fics and art must feature Falin and Marcille as the main pairing. Background pairings will be allowed at mods' discretion, and should not take away focus from the main ship. For NSFW content, Falin and Marcille must be portrayed as adults (no NSFW of them in school settings).
Etiquette Policy
The zine will not accept creators who have previously made works with offensive themes such as homophobia, transphobia, racism, or misogyny. These themes are strictly banned in the zine. Contributors found to have created such content or used generative AI will be immediately removed.
Contributor Minimum Age
The minimum age for contributors to the zine is 18+ by the time of results being sent out due to the fact that there will be a NSFW add-on available and NSFW content accessible in the server.
Deadline Extensions and Dropouts
If at any point, contributors need an extension on any deadlines, they should let the mod team know as soon a possible! This is not a problem, but the earlier we know the earlier we can make any adjustments that need to be made.
The same goes if anyone should find themselves needing to drop out of the zine; this will allow us to give any pinch hitters as much time as possible to create their works, since they will be working on a tighter schedule. Communication Platform
The zine’s primary mode of communication will be Discord, so contributors are required to have an account and to join the server for the zine. In addition, Google Drive will be the home for files relating to the zine, and file submission will be done through Google Forms.

Contributor Responsibilities

Page Artists
Page artists will each be responsible for creating a finished illustration with a background. The art must be 300 DPI in CMYK, with the exact dimensions to be given to accepted contributors.
Merch Artists
Each merch artist will be required to submit at least two ideas for merch. What merch exactly will be most desirable will be determined by the interest check. Based on general trends in zines right now, digital merch might include backgrounds, icons, and Discord emojis. Physical merch might include stickers (both individual and sheets), acrylic charms/other acrylic goods, enamel pins, prints, and bookmarks.
Writers
Writers will submit one complete written piece with a word count limit of 2,000 words. The piece must be edited and looked over by a beta reader before final submission. The Writing Mod will go over each piece after each check-in for grammar and spelling, as well as style and formatting consistencies between pieces.

Contributor Compensation

Guaranteed Compensation
Contributors are all guaranteed to receive digital copies of the zine and any digital merch from our project for free.
Physical Compensation
Understand that our compensation fully depends on the success of our zines and the number of sales we receive. We aim to compensate all our contributors with full bundles and free shipping. If we aren’t able to reach our goal, contributors will have the opportunity to purchase these items at the most affordable production cost.

Application Guidelines

Contributor Roles
We are seeking approximately 22 artists, 6 writers, and 5 merch artists for the SFW section, and 12 artists and 4 writers for the NSFW section, including invited guests. We will be allowing interested artists and writers to contribute to both the SFW and NSFW sections if interested!
Application Evaluation
Applications will be evaluated on a blind basis. Your name and social media handles will not be linked to your application until after review; this is to give every applicant an equal footing and allow us to evaluate their skills alone.
Link Accessibility
If you are hosting your application materials on a sharing site like Google Drive, please ensure that all of them are unlocked and viewable to the mods.
If we are unable to access your materials, we will not have time to get into contact with you and inform you, and will regrettably have to move on without looking into your application. If you would like to provide a link to a portfolio of other pieces that you feel depict your skills well in addition to the samples chosen, you may feel free to do so, and there is a space in each application, but there is no guarantee that mods will have time to review it in depth, so please make sure that the three directly-linked works are your absolute best. Also, please note that submitting a link to a social media site for your portfolio will compromise your anonymity during the application process. Pinch Hitter Positions
Pinch hitter positions for this zine will be available. By marking yourself as willing to be a pinch hitter, you are accepting a potentially tighter schedule with less turnaround before final deadlines.
Page and Comic Artists
Page artist applicants will be required to upload three samples that they feel represent their best work and abilities as an artist. These works will be evaluated on the basis of:
• Technical Skill: Proficiency in anatomy, perspective, composition, and overall quality of execution.
• Style Versatility: Ability to adapt their style to fit the theme and tone of the zine.
• Originality and Creativity: Unique designs while maintaining an eye-catching quality.
• Consistency: Proven ability to maintain quality across different pieces.
• Portfolio Quality: A well-organized portfolio showcasing a range of work.
It's encouraged for you to include an artwork that includes Falin and/or Marcille so we can have a vision of your place in our project, but it is not required! If you would like to be considered for contribution to the NSFW add-on, you should include at least one example of NSFW work among your three samples. Please use as high-resolution files as possible. Merch Artists
Merch artist applicants will be required to upload three samples that they feel represent their best work and abilities as a merch designer. These works will be evaluated on the basis of:
• Design Appeal: The ability to create visually striking designs that would work well as merchandise items (e.g., charms, stickers, prints).
• Originality and Creativity: Unique designs while maintaining an eye-catching quality.
• Portfolio Quality: An organized portfolio showcasing previous merch work or designs that would fit well on different product types.
• Theme Cohesion: The ability to create artwork that aligns with the overall theme of the zine, ensuring consistency in tone and style!
Again, we encourage the inclusion of artworks that include Falin and/or Marcille, but this is not required! If possible, please use diverse sample types of merch, and indicate in the file name what the design was intended for (i.e., FarcilleCharm, Senshi_Standee, WLSticker, etc.). Writers
Writer applicants will be required to submit three samples that they feel represent their best work and abilities as a writer. These works should not exceed 2.5k in length; excerpts from longer pieces are allowed, but should be indicated, and at least one piece should be a complete work. These works will be evaluated on the basis of:
• Characterization: Creation and maintenance of a unique voice/personality for each present character.
• Prose: Use of literary devices, tone, etc. to create a compelling reading experience..
• Technical skill: Grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
• Narrative: Ability to form a complete piece within the word count.
Just as with the artist positions, works featuring Falin and Marcille are encouraged, but not required. However, if you would like to be considered for inclusion in the NSFW add-on, at least one of your examples should be NSFW, preferably sapphic/WLW, among your three samples.

Q: What is a zine?
A: In broad terms, a zine is a fan-made magazine featuring works made by contributors. Zines have a long and rich history, both in fandom (going back to things like science fiction and Star Trek zines) and outside of it (like punk and riot grrrl zines). A zine can be digital or physical, professionally printed or handmade; there is no one way to make a zine. That being said, in online fandom spaces in today’s world, a zine often, and in this case, refers to a fan-made booklet full of both art and writing offerings from contributors, centered around a specific topic. The zine may be offered along with merchandise bundles as well. So, in this specific zine’s circumstances, we are focusing around the romantic pairing between Falin and Marcille from Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon.
Q: What kind of themes are we allowed to include?
A: If it has to do with Farcille, and doesn't break the other rules listed in our Contributor section, then it's fair game! We will assess interest in the inclusion of AUs in our interest check, and if they are accepted, they will be on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Will the zine include spoilers for the Dungeon Meshi manga?
A: Yes. We anticipate that by the time the zine is released, the next season of the anime will have finished airing anyway. So if you are cautious of spoilers, we would recommend catching up before applying to join us!
Q: Are trans/non-binary headcanons allowed?
A: Absolutely!
Q: Are OCs allowed?
A: If you just need a character to fill a background or small role in a fic, that is more than welcome. However, keep in mind that the main focus of the piece should be on Falin and Marcille. Any other character that takes a larger role in an art piece or a fic should be from the canon of Dungeon Meshi.
Q: Can we write about Marcille and Falin's platonic relationship?
A: This is a ship-focused zine. Therefore, all content should be romantic in nature.
Q: Can I apply for multiple roles as a contributor?
A: You may, but keep in mind you may not be selected for all or both of them. Some overlap is allowed; you can hold the role of merch artist and the role of page artist or writer, but you may not be both a page artist and a writer.
Q: How will contributors be compensated?
A: We aim to compensate all our contributors with full bundles and free shipping. If we aren’t able to reach our goal, contributors will have the opportunity to purchase these items at the most affordable production cost.
Q: Will this zine cost money to buy?
A: Yes, the zine will cost money when sold. However, keep in mind that it is a non-profit zine, and after production and properly compensating all contributors, all proceeds will be donated to charity.
Q: What charity will the proceeds benefit?
A: Our interest check did not reveal a clear preference in charity, so at the moment we have a few in mind, mostly split either between LGBTQ+ benefit charities or charities for Palestine. Once all of our contributors are chosen, we will have a vote among all of them for which charity/ies we support!
Q: I have a question that wasn't answered here.
A: Please feel free to send us an email or visit our Tellonym, which allows anonymous questions, to send it to us!
